Taylor Swift has influenced my life tremendously. I fell in love with her at a tender age and I really enjoyed watching her grow and change at the same time I did. I will always be a Swiftie and I believe that Taylor is one of the most talented song writers out there. Her lyrics are always rich and full of life. They make me feel things that I have never felt listening to other songs and they have taught me some of the most amazing lessons I will never forget. Here are a few lyrics that changed my outlook on life.
1. "It seems like one of those nights, we ditch the whole scene and end up dreaming instead of sleeping."
There will be times in your life where you have to just go out with your girls and forget about everything for a little while. When boys are too annoying, you have a huge test you haven't studied for and you're stressed beyond belief, sometimes you just need to get away. You go out with your girls and just be carefree. You are as old as you have ever been and as young as you will ever be again. Live life. You will not be 80 years old sitting in your rocking chair remembering the nights you got enough sleep.
2."Loving him is like trying to change your mind once you're already flying through the free fall."
You will fall head over heels in love one day. You will fall so fast, you won't even know where you are. You won't be able to explain your feelings and none of it will make sense to anyone else but it makes perfect sense to you. The love will be intense and crazy. It will be also passionate and RED, as Taylor would say. Embrace it.
3. "And they tell you that you're lucky but you're so confused because you don't feel pretty you just feel used."
Everybody thinks that being famous is this amazing, wonderful thing. Very few people realize that it is actually a curse. You can't go anywhere or do anything alone. There is always the paparazzi who will follow you around just waiting for you to mess up and the second you do, it's all over the front page. Being famous is stressful and isn't all it's cracked up to be. Taylor expresses that we think she is the lucky one, but in reality we are the lucky ones, because we have freedom.
4. "You can plan for a change in weather and time, but I never planned on you changing your mind."
Sometimes you will love someone so truly and wholeheartedly but no matter what you do, someday they will just leave without a trace, so unexpectedly. No warning, no goodbye, no resolution. You sit there and wonder what you did wrong but you just have to remember that sometimes you do nothing at all. They have to leave for you to find the one who you truly belong with. You will get through it. You just have to remember that even though your heart feels like it has been ripped in two, it is for a good reason.
5. "Cause baby I could build a castle out of all the bricks they threw at me."
This one hits me hard. This lyric taught me that no matter who you are, people are going to judge you, they are going to not like you, they are going to try to push you down. It happened to Taylor and it happens to everyone. The best thing to do is use their hate to fuel your success. To prove them wrong. I use this a lot in my own life. I do whatever makes me happy and I don't care if other people don't like it. It is for ME and not them.
6. "But you are not the kind of boy who should be marrying the wrong girl."
Life is short. We don't have a lot of time and we never know exactly how much time we have left. So don't wait. Tell people how you feel. Tell your mom you love her. Tell that boy in you science class that you like him. Tell that mean girl that she has no right to treat you the way that she does. Don't wait. Speak now.
7. "You should have said "No" baby and you might still have me."
Cheating is never ok. Let me repeat. CHEATING IS NEVER OK. I don't care how many times they say they are sorry and that it will never happen again. It will. You have the right and the power to demand what you deserve and you do NOT deserve someone that doesn't respect you and can't even be loyal to you.
8. "In your life you'll do things greater than dating the boy on the football team."
When we are young all that seems to matter is being popular, having all the right friends and the right boyfriend. This taught me that that may seem like the most important thing in the world right now but it is all a trap. You will do amazing things in your life and who you were in high school, who you dated and who your friends were won't matter in the long run.
9. "Someday I'll be living in a big old city and all you're ever gonna be is mean."
The people that purposely try to ruin your life and push you down do NOT deserve your tears. They do NOT deserve space in your head. You have too much going for you and are too busy doing what you are meant to do to waste time on them. They are just jealous of your success and want to see you fail. Don't let them. Every time someone says something mean about me or says I will never go anywhere in life, I just sing this lyric over and over again until I believe it, because it is true.
10. "And even though you want to, just try to never grow up."
This song "Never Grow Up" makes me cry every single time I hear it. It is so true on so many levels and it scares me how quickly we grow up. I'm already 20 years old. It seemed like just yesterday I was starting middle school and here I am almost done with my second year of college. We all wanted so badly to be grown up when we were younger, but now we want nothing more than to be young again. Don't wish your life away. Enjoy now.

11. "I'm thirteen now and don't know how my friends could be so mean, I come home crying and you hold me tight and grab the keys."
Your parents will always love you no matter what. They want what is best for you always. They hate to see you cry. If they could sacrifice their left arm so that you would never cry again, I promise you, they would. Sometimes between the stress and fights you have with your parents it's hard to remember how much they love you. They are your biggest fans. Just as you are getting older, they are too. Always make sure you let them know how much you love them, they can never hear it enough.
12. "You can feel it in the silence, you can feel it on the way home, you can feel it with the lights out, you are in love, true love."
I can relate to this lyric so hard. I would play this song every time I left my boyfriend's house and just cry because it was so true. Love is so precious and so special. It is so hard to describe but you know when you are in it and it is one of the most amazing feelings in the world.
13. "'Cause the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate and the players gonna play, play, play, play, play."
I think this is the most catchy song I have ever heard and every time it comes on it puts me in an amazing mood and I just want to rock out. Though this message is similar to a few other lyrics, it just reiterates the fact that you just need to ignore the haters, because all they will do is hate. It doesn't matter if you are Beyonce, Tom Brady, or Jennifer Lawrence, you will have haters. Shake of their negativity, do you because you are amazing. Don't let them get you down. Always remember to shake it off.
