I Might Be A Millennial But That Doesn't Give You The Right To Insult Me

I Might Be A Millennial But That Doesn't Give You The Right To Insult Me

I work like a slave and still cannot get ahead. I know I cannot possibly be the only one in this position. I'm 23, I work three jobs, and I still manage to get excited if I can afford a slice of pizza. As a millennial, I am tired of hearing how incredibly lazy my generation is. We're certainly not all the way we are perceived.

I wish that things were handed to me, I wish that every time I couldn't afford something my parents would be able to hand me a stack of 50's. Instead I work like a slave, quite literally.

See the way my parents raised me, is if you didn't physically have paper to purchase than you simply needed to work until you did. I don't have a safe spot when I'm on the brink of bankruptcy.

I have hustle and I have drive.

My parents raised me and my sisters in such a fashion that we were hungry. I mean starving for money, we all went to school every morning like our lives depended on it, and now we all work like every single day the rent is due. I didn't get handed a metal for anything, quiet literally anything, maybe I wasn't good enough to receive one. I'm okay with that, it taught me life lessons about it being acceptable to loose.

I hate the people that I see on social media not attending classes or their jobs because their representative didn't win the election. The first thing I always think is, how can you be so proud as to waste your money like that, whether that be on tuition or missing out on a day of work. I wish I was as carefree that I could just completely skip one of my jobs.

I wish I could, but the risk of being fired is greater than my worry to lay down in a highway. I feel exactly how police officers feel when another person gets shot. Just because some of us are spoiled onions doesn't mean we all are.

I'm trying my best to prove other generations like the baby boomers wrong but common guys, how are we supposed to be perceived while walking around topless with signs ranting about "this p*ssy grabs back."

We have to do better, be better, live better and just accept that not everything in life is going to go your way. No one in life is going to take us seriously if this is the way we're going to continue to behave and carry ourselves.

Your sorry excuse for humans don't represent most of us but unfortunately you're getting all the attention and the rest of us are tired of it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
