This past week has been one of the most hectic weeks of my life. Sorority recruitment has made its way into many women’s lives across the country during this fall semester, and this past month has been the hight of the recruitment season.
I went through formal recruitment my freshman year, and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my entire life, but this year I had the opportunity to be on the other side of recruitment. It was such an eye opening experience that is too incredible to put into words.
From the endless recruitment practices every weekend leading up to the start of school, to staying up long nights crafting with your sisters, or even just having heart to hearts with the women who have truly made an impact on your life, all of these made this process so worth while. I was nervous to go through the process on the other side, but then again so excited to welcome 50+ new women that I can call sisters.
These past few weeks being with my sisters 24/7 has made me reminisce on not only the reasons why I joined my organization, but has truly made me understand why I stayed all this time. It’s because of these women who have made me into the person I am today. It’s because of these women who have pushed me to venture out of my comfort zone and challenge myself in ways I never deemed possible. It’s because of the Greek Community as a whole who have given me the confidence in myself to become the leader I am today, and for that I am ever so grateful.
I cannot thank Greek life enough for giving me the opportunities I have had this past year. With that being said, take every moment spent in recruitment these upcoming weeks and cherish them in every possible way. The nonexistent amount of sleep you will get, or the blisters on your feet that you will receive, will never amount to the everlasting memories you will share for the rest of your lifetime.
