Freshman year of college was a total blast. Aside from learning a whole lot of great information, declaring my major, catching mono, meeting the most wonderful people and understanding how to take care of myself, I also some pretty other fun things too!!
1. Being added to at least 10 new GroupMe groups.
If you are in high school and don't know what this is, just get ready. I recommend downloading it onto your phone ASAP because you will be using it.
2. Obtaining at least 4 new hoodless sweatshirts.
I say hoodless because I have become a big fan of the crew neck and quarter-zip sweatshirts.
3. Along with the sweatshirts, I also obtained at least eight new shirts.
All these clothing items have "Wittenberg" or "Alpha Delta Pi" in some form on them.
4. Having Taco Bell for the first time.
I know, it was a shocker to my friends too. But it's never too late to start.
5. Meeting people and living on the same floor as people that I could have never imagined coming across.
By going to a high school composed of 250 total students, I did not have the widest variety of people in my friend group or on my radar. Just going to a small school in the middle of nowhere Ohio, I met incredible people.
6. Sharing a bathroom with 45 others girls.
Those two toilets seemed to run out of toilet paper at the most inconvenient times, and on a good day, only three showers worked, but in the end, I will never ever forget the conversations I had there or the memories I made while brushing my teeth.
7. Driving to get fast food at 12:00 a.m.
It really does taste better after 10 p.m. I suspect this is where the freshman 15 comes from. But it is totally worth it.
8. Going to Walmart at 10:00 p.m. on a school night.
I laugh at the fact that I just called them "school nights" because my bedtime was pretty much the same the entire week. And Walmart was really no different on a Monday night versus a Friday night.
9. Reading countless pages of books and writing more papers than I could have thought in a given time.
10. Realizing that the more clothes I have in the dorm means the less loads of laundry I have to do immediately, but that will have to get done eventually.
Also, my shoes took a beating. Instead of staying in one building all day in the same pair of shoes for five days a week, I wore different shoes to multiple different buildings every day. I am glad that I had a lot of comfy pairs. But beware, according to the laws of dorm living, what goes into a dorm room, must come out.
11. Letting my friend cut my hair.
A lot of odd things happen in a college dorm room, but I would have never thought chopping off my blond locks would be one of them.
I would not trade any of my experiences or the people I met for the world. As I write this article, I can not fathom that I am already a sophomore. Time goes by way too quickly in college.
