11 Things You Should Never Say To Your Server

You may think it's funny, but trust me we have heard it all before.

11 Things You Should Never Say To Your Server

Being a waiter or a waitress is a great way to make a decent income. Some of the things the customers do make it not so great.

1. "Is there anything else I can get you today?"

Giphy

I am sorry, if I had that kind of money I would not be working here.

2. *Whistles*

Giphy

No, I am not a dog so please do not treat me like one.

3. Yell at me when I am talking to another table

Giphy

Yes, I can tell your glass is empty. This table I am currently at is patiently waiting for me to greet them and get their drinks. I will be with you as soon as I can.

4. "I don't like this table, can we sit over here."

Giphy

Not sitting at the table the host brought you to can create issues for everyone else who is currently working. Someone could get double sat or skipped causing them to lose money.

5. "I am severely allergic to gluten" (When you aren't)

Giphy

I can tell you are not allergic to gluten when you have already asked me for more bread twice.

6. "I am in a rush but can I have a well-done ribeye"

Please do not order a ribeye well-done if you are in a rush.

Giphy

Please do not order a ribeye well-done if you are in a rush. Think of something that can be cooked fast such as pasta.

7. "Where is my ___?"

Giphy

Your server will be more than happy to accommodate your wants. A please and a thank you can go a long way and even make it more enjoyable to serve you.

8. "Is the salmon good?"

Giphy

Restaurants like to serve food that is good, if it was not any good it would not be on the menu. The server will more than likely tell you everything on the menu is good even if they like something else more.

9. "It's too cold in here."

Giphy

I am sorry you are cold but there is only so much we can do to keep both the customers and the workers happy. Although you may be cold, remember all the cooks who are standing by a grill, I am sure they are hot.

10. Interrupt your sever as they introduce themselves

Giphy

This is the first time you are meeting each other and it would be the nice to wait till they are done with their introduction before interrupting them and asking where the bread is.

11. "I know it is past lunch time, but can we order off of the lunch menu?"

Giphy

If you want lunch menu prices, come at lunch menu times.

Although there are many downsides to being a sever, I love being a server. It is a great way to interact with a variety of different people and make great tips while you are at it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
