When I was growing up I often wondered what guys would think of me when they dated me. Would they think I'm too loud? Would the think that I'm too bitchy? What if they don't like how I tell the brutally honest truth? All of these questions ran though my head but were gradually calmed down once I met the right guy that can handle a girl like me that will tell you, yes, in fact, that dress does make your butt look big.
1. It's loud. A lot.
As a girl who is honest the majority of the time I typically want everyone to know that I'm honest. I'm not hiding anything about who I am. It just happens. Also, don't be surprised when you're in the car with me and I get cut off that I spout a stream of profanity that would make a sailor proud. It happens. I don't hold back, no matter if I'm happy, angry, nervous or sad.
2. I will tell you the truth even if you don't want to hear it.
I will tell you if your facial hair does resemble a pedophile or a bad 1970s move star. I won't sugarcoat it either. Sugarcoating things never gets things done.
3. You will most likely know what I'm feeling no matter what.
A straightforward girl never hides her thoughts or feelings. If I'm yelling and screaming about something I'm more than likely really pissed off at the moment. If I'm tired I'm probably really tired. I'll tell you if you piss me off.
4. Sometimes I can come off as bitchy.
For some reason there are a lot of people that don't appreciate honesty for what it is. If I don't want to talk to you, I won't. I'm not trying to be rude. I'm simply disengaging from you because I really would rather not drone on about an awkward topic that nobody wants to hear about. We might argue about something stupid and I can seem really mean but I don't intend to sound that way at all.
5. I have no filter whatsoever.
I know that it's typically a rule of thumb that most people have a filter, but I don't. If I see something or someone that makes me mad I'll probably tell you about it. I'll also tell you super personal details about it while I'm at it. It's nothing personal. I don't intend to freak you out. It just happens. Anything and everything is first date conversation material to me no matter if I've known you ten minutes, a month, or a year.
6. I can open up to you really quickly.
I'm that kind of person that sees a room full of people sitting quietly and I have to say something to someone. It's just who I am. It doesn't matter if I'm sitting next to you in class, passing you on the sidewalk, behind you in line at the store, or even washing my hands beside you in the bathroom, I'll more than likely strike up a casual conversation with you as if you were my best friend. If you're not okay with me talking to random strangers we're going to have some problems.
7. I know what I want and I know when I want it.
A girl that's straightforward always knows what she whats and when she wants it. If she doesn't know what she wants, she'll own that. She'll own the fact that she has no idea where her life is taking her and she's fine with it.
8. I burn so many bridges without a second thought.
As a straightforward, brutally honest girl I burn more bridges than I can count. I say what's on my mind even if you don't want to hear it, and for a lot of people that's a little bit more than they're willing to have to deal with. I have ruined friendships and acted like I was right when I was truly in the wrong. I unintentionally hurt people and feel horrible about it, but I will try my best to apologize and make it up to you.
9. I have very little patience for annoying, uneducated people.
For any straightforward girl this is a constant problem. If I see that you're not common sense smart and can't figure out how to do simple tasks I won't have any tolerance for you. It's just a simple fact of life. More often than not, sarcasm will be my response to any dumb question you ask me.
10. I may seem like the worst person in the world sometimes, but I do have a heart and feelings.
Believe it or not, straightforward girls are people too. We cry when we breakup with our boyfriends. We're in pain when we get hurt physically and emotionally. We're happy people when we're with the ones who bring out the best in us. We get excited over meaningless things and are okay with it. We get sad during romance movies. We bust out laughing at the simplest jokes in a two start movie. We're still people that are able to love. We're also probably the most fun people that you'll ever meet that can make you feel as comfortable as we can make you feel awkward. It's just what we do. Dating a straightforward girl or being friends with them means that there's never a dull moment.
