First and foremost, it's not necessarily a bad thing.
Of course, it's great to have a number one best friend that you can always go to when you need to talk or someone you can go on late night Taco Bell runs with. However, having many good friends feels like heaven.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely miss my former best friends. They were phenomenal, but we grew apart. It happens. But I want to thank all of the good friends I have that have stuck by me. Sure we have to work with each other's schedules, and our friendship is full of us only speaking through text, but I wouldn't give it up for the world.
Having many different friends is such a blessing. It's great to have one friend that I can go eat junk food with, but I still have another friend that would adore going hiking with me. There's nothing better.
You may feel slightly alone when it's National Best Friend Day and you don't have one person to choose or have that one person who chooses you. That's okay. It's good to have alone time. We all need it. And this goes to show that life goes on with or without people. You'd be surprised how good you feel when you don't feel obligated to fight with someone over who is best friends with who. (Hopefully, we all outgrew this stage in high school).
What's most important is that you have yourself and a few good friends to lean on. It will all be alright with or without a best friend.
