Young body, old soul.

Satchel Paige once said, “How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?”

Personally, I think I would be a really old person. Like, I'm talking really old. I love old music and movies... I don't understand most things surrounding popular culture... and I can be a little on the grumpy side. But, I am sure I am not the only person who feels this way. So, here are some things you might relate to if you have an old soul:

1. You don’t understand “talking.”

When I first heard this phrase, I assumed the speaker meant having a conversation. But, I was sorely mistaken.

But, seriously, what is up with "talking"? So you’re dating……. But not really? But you can’t date other people? So you’re basically dating? What?

2. You care about current events.

Okay, I get that you think that Jojo should’ve won the Bachelor… but have you paid any attention to the national debt lately? What about what is going on in the Middle East? How do you feel about that? Can we please talk about something that matters?

3. You love old music and movies.

Elvis, the Beatles, Frank Sinatra… You love them all.

4. You obsess over old time periods.

I would be lying if I said I didn’t have a serious infatuation with "Pride and Prejudice". Mr. Darcy has my heart.

5. You care about religion.

In a world where religion seems to be less and less present, church is more than just a photo opportunity for you. You enjoy attending church and being surrounded by like-minded people. That being said, having traditional or religious views does not make you close-minded.

6. Marriage means something to you.

As with religion, marriage is becoming less common and divorce is much more prevalent than it used to be. The thought of a society without monogamy is terrifying to you.

Plus, there's always this...

7. You don’t understand most modern technology.

What’s that thing on your wrist? A Fit-what? How does it work?

8. You are lost when it comes to slang.

Yolo. That's a chocolate milk drink….right??

9. You don’t understand current trends.

What is up with people wearing Crocs? And Chacos? Can someone please put an end to this?

10. You’re introspective.

You spend a lot of time thinking… However, this is not to be confused with introverted. Introspective means that you are reflective, not necessarily quiet.

11. People often classify you as “mature.”

I remember when I was probably around seven years old and an older girl in my neighborhood told me that I was extremely mature for my age, and I had never been more flattered. Because of this aforementioned maturity, people will often come to you for advice or consolation.

12. Your peers often don’t understand the decisions you make.

For instance, I chose a small college that was far away from home, and a lot of people didn’t understand why. But I don’t live my life to be understood by my peers, so that’s alright.

13. You’re more than okay with being alone.

You don’t constantly need to be surrounded by friends or a significant other. In fact, sometimes you actually prefer spending time by yourself.

14. You get frustrated when people don’t take you seriously.

Yes, yes, I realize I’m only 19 years old… but my opinion should still be taken into account, especially if it’s something I am knowledgeable about.

15. You love finding other old souls.

“FINALLY SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS!!”

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
