What It’s Like to Live With Pimples

What it's like to have volcanos on your face, almost all the time, and how I deal with them.

What It’s Like to Live With Pimples

Everyone in their life has gotten at least one pimple, and if you haven’t, I’m jealous of you. But there are so many people who have pimples, and struggle with them every day, like myself. And not only does having pimples suck, a lot, but having to deal with huge volcanos on your face is embarrassing.

Being a girl and struggling with acne really puts a damper on your self-esteem. There are times where I’m totally okay with how my face looks, and I feel fierce. But there are other times where I just want to put a bag over my face or never leave my room.

You would be surprised how many times I have had people ask me if I wash my face, or if I do anything to help with it. My mental response is something along the lines of “no, I wake up every morning wanting to have the next Mount Fuji to erupt on my face”. Here is a secret, I do actually wash my face every day, and go to the dermatologist!

Acne is embarrassing, and I hate that god created such ugly things. Girls in general, I think, have a harder time dealing with it, because society has these standards of having perfect skin. For myself, I just embrace the fact that there are big red dots on my face. I don’t try to cover up my acne, because it just makes me feel more gross.

Being able to feel confident without makeup on makes dealing with my acne so much better. I don’t feel like I need to hide anything from anyone, or try to perfect myself. Yes, pimples suck, and I don’t wish them upon anyone, but it’s life. Anyone and everyone can get them.

So my advice to anyone who gets pimples a lot, like me, work it girl. It doesn’t matter if you have a pimple on your face or not. Be confident in your own skin. Pimples don’t last forever.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
