What It's Actually Like Sharing a Dorm Bed With a Significant Other

It's not as easy at it looks, I promise.

What It's Actually Like Sharing a Dorm Bed With a Significant Other

Sleeping in a twin size college bed is difficult. They are uncomfortable and small to begin with. Then you take on the task of adding in an extra body. A seemingly simple task for some, is actually extremely difficult.

Below is a picture describing what the bed to space ratio actually feels like.

Sometimes you get too close to the edge of the bed and you feel bad moving because you know, there's a chance you are going to wake them up. However, you can't risk it because there's also a chance that you're going to face-plant.

I'm as much of a cuddler as anyone else and with the amount of space that the dorm beds allow you kind of have to be. Also, if you can manage the space you occasionally need it. That's why the good old "Hug and Roll" usually does the trick.

Sometimes you keep them up at night with your philosophical thoughts or vice-versa.

Talking isn't the only noise that you have to tolerate. You might even have to put up with some snoring. I swear some nights I'm actually sleeping with a bear.

You know how you lay there at night and thoughts keep you up? Well, staying with a significant other helps you talk out all those worries.

Now and then I squeeze into bed with homework and if your significant other is anything like mine, they will probably start showing you random videos from YouTube or start telling you funny stories about their day. Although, great distractions, it can sometimes be frustrating.

Whenever you've had a bad day or are stressing out about that exam coming up. Your significant other is there to comfort you before bed.

If you're lucky, they bring snacks to bed. Hopefully not the sticky kind or the kind that melts.

There comes a point in the night when you wake up shaking because you no longer have a blanket. You turn over to realize that your significant other is being the ultimate cover hog.

You are falling asleep with the one you love and that's the most amazing part.

You might get irritated sometimes and it might be difficult sometimes to fall asleep, but to see them sleep so peacefully; there is honestly nothing more precious than that. Maybe there are some issues even the California King size can't even fix.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
