Everyone at some point in their life has had to move away from their best friend. It just happens that I left my hometown for college. When your best friend goes to a different college, the separation isn’t the only thing that’s difficult.

Here are the 4 worst things about moving away from your best friends:

1. The one that got away

The thought of them replacing you worries you to no end. You also know that you will never be able to replace them, or find anyone like them. It's like moving away from your soulmate.

2. Inside jokes are made over text

Every time you say something funny, or use an inside joke, you can’t turn to them and joke about it. For example any personal reference to "Parks and Recreation", John Mulaney, or "The Office" is lost on everyone. So you have to text your best friends about asap.

3. Unlimited texting is a must

They text or call you about what’s going on in their lives and half of their story ends up being them explaining the entire situation before telling the actual story. It leads to you both texting forever.

4. Parties are destination events

When they party and hang out with friends, you can't be with them.

Not everything about moving away from your bff is bad, here are the 4 good things that come with distance:

1. Compliments and phone calls increase

You get late night phone calls from them, usually telling you how much they love you. They get similar calls as well.

2. You know that they miss you

They share tons of jokes about how much they miss you and how long they are going to hug you before they let go. P.S. They are usually pretty serious about this.

3. Visits become huge events

Reunions are the best, it's a party every time and holidays are huge. PS You better go visit their families, they miss you too.

4. Gossip improves

You can talk about anyone with them because they don’t know the people you're talking about, nothing is off limits.
