Firefighters to me are some of the most amazing men on this planet so what is it like to date one? It's a feeling like no other.

You would think that a firefighter would put out fires but in reality, when you date one they light a fire in you that no one can ever put out.

Yes, there are countless nights where you lay down to fall asleep and you get the dreaded text message telling you that he loves you and he's running a call so you end up staying up all night to make sure that he's safe, but it's worth it. There are also nights where you will be sound asleep and the radio will start going off with their notification sound and dispatch comes on saying there's a structure fire, you will hear him groan and slide out of bed trying not to wake you as he gets ready to go out and save not only a families house but also all of their memories.

I promise you though that all of the sleepless nights and the nightmares of him being trapped in a burning house are all worth it.

Firefighters save more than homes. They save hearts, memories, and dreams. Being a firefighter is sacrificing yourself for something greater. A firefighter risks his life to save and protect someone else, just imagine what he would do to save and protect you. Firefighters are not like other men in so many ways. They charge into a burning house without even a shadow of a doubt.

They don't really know what fear is and if they do they are amazing at hiding it so that no one knows. They protect not only themselves but their partners from the fire that is engulfing a house without remorse. They see a fire and automatically start fighting it mentally. It is amazing to watch them in action. I know that in my firefighter, I see his eyes light up when he gets the chance to do what he loves.

Have you ever seen a fire that has just consumed the house to the point where you just have to sit there and watch it burn? That is what it's like to date a firefighter, their love consumes you. You have a person standing by you who has so much integrity compared to any other person you know. He will also sacrifice himself before ever asking you to.

They have amazing communication skills as well so you don't have to worry about him not telling you things. A firefighters dedication is stronger than in most people. They don't just give up when things get hard, they keep going and pushing to get through. You never have to worry about a firefighter giving up on you like other people have.

Even with all the close calls and the sleepless nights, you will never not be happy. Being with a firefighter has changed my life for the better and I will never go back. My firefighter is the best thing to ever happen to me. I met my firefighter 4 years ago when I had a major car wreck that should have killed me. He pulled me out and kept me calm.

I will never forget looking over at my mom and telling her that the firefighter that pulled me out was cute and that I would one day be dating him. It took me 4 years but I finally found the firefighter that saved my life not once, but twice and I don't think I could be any happier than I am right now. I love my firefighter more than anything. I always tell him that Nicholas Sparks will envy our love story because he didn't get to write about it.
