How would you define “true beauty?" Does it exist? Can it be defined? True can be defined as “accurate; in accordance with fact or reality." Beauty, on the other hand, can be defined as “a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, which pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight." Is there such a thing as “true beauty?" What is “true beauty?" I believe “true beauty” is subjective, as there is no single answer. Individuals have tried to define it but one’s opinion and outlook can differ from one another thus creating different responses. Even the play on words invokes different responses.
Generally, when someone hears “true beauty” they can interpret it as being something extremely pleasing to the eye, visually. Things that are commonly referred to as “true beauties” include sunsets/sunrises, world wonders, cars, and people. When referring to a person the term can describe someone that is not only pleasing to the eye on the outside but is also a kind and caring person on the inside. Someone who is truly beautiful can also be someone who is confident in their own skin; they are not afraid to be themselves, regardless of what they look like they have a heart of gold. As we can see “true beauty” can be defined in a multitude of ways. So what is “true beauty?" “True beauty” like beauty, in general, is in the eyes of the beholder. It is something that cannot be defined as this or that because there can be subjectivity in one’s answer, thus there is no one concrete answer to, “what is true beauty?”. Different subject matters require different standards and those standards are judged differently between individuals.
The next question is, is “true beauty” something that is external or internal or maybe a combination of both? Like I previously stated, I think it depends on the subject matter. A beautiful painting can be beautiful looking at it externally because it is a picture but one could argue that the real reason it is a beauty is because of its emotions it invokes. A person, on the other hand, can be extremely beautiful but they may have a terrible personally, which means they would be solely a “true beauty” on appearance alone. Another individual could be less attractive with a kind and positive personality that overshadows their appearance making them a “true beauty” internally. Lastly, some say that a beautiful personality is more important than appearance and the confidence and kindness they exude makes them beautiful on the outside too, therefore making them a “true beauty” on the inside and on the outside. But this may only be one opinion. So how would you describe “true beauty”?
