What I'll Miss The Most About College

While I'm ready to move on, I'm so thankful for these years.

What I'll Miss The Most About College

Not going to lie, I can't wait to be done with college. While I've been ready for graduation for what feels like forever, there are definitely some things that I will miss. With two weeks left and finals approaching, I figured it was a good time to do some reflecting.

1) The people.

This one might be pretty obvious, but it's my #1 for a reason! The people here have really made my college experience and I'm so thankful for these friendships. The tough thing about college is how quickly your relationships grow with people you've just met, and then how quickly you have to say goodbye. Too soon? I agree.

2) Constant community.

As much as we joke about "community" at CCU, that's really what it's all about. Being surrounded by encouraging friends that I can laugh and cry with is something pretty special. I will miss all the fun adventures, late-night talks, Starbucks study sessions, crazy laughter. It's crazy to think that I've only had two years at CCU (any other transfers out there?), but these two years have had a huge impact on my life. As humans, we are designed for community and I'm so thankful that others have poured into me, and that I've been able to do the same.

3) No school on Fridays.

If only the real world worked this way! I've quickly gotten used to three-day weekends...every weekend. While we rarely had days off on holidays that most other universities did (except Thanksgiving & Christmas), shorter weeks made it worth it. We're definitely spoiled, especially considering that most other colleges don't have this schedule, let alone the work world. Talk about a reality check!

4) The memories.

As hard as these years have been, especially health-wise, I've had so much fun. College is such a unique time of life and there's no other time quite like it. The memories that I've made will stay with me forever. While I'm ready to move on to the next chapter, I sure am thankful for this one.

College, you've treated me well and I'll miss ya! For the most part ;)

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
