I spend the majority of my free time watching proposal and wedding videos. In the many videos I've seen, I've come to realize that I really dig personalized vows. They really capture the couple's personality and show just how much they love one another. I don't know that I would be very good at writing my own vows since I'm not sure I could find the words for my future husband, and it probably wouldn't be acceptable to throw some rap lyrics in there. However, if I did write them I think they'd go a little something like this (rap lyrics excluded).
(Insert name here), I can't believe you actually want to deal with me for the rest of your life, but I am so very thankful that you do. The hardest part for me through our journey was that my parents never got to meet you. But I know they're here, and they're smiling because I found you. We have a love as true as theirs. I've learned that one of the most important things in life is keeping your promises, so here are a few things I promise you.
I promise to sing to you in the car and laugh at your jokes. I promise to help you love life as much as you love me. I promise to honor and respect you. I promise to make you laugh. I promise to appreciate the big and little things that you do for me. I promise to pray with you, and sit next to you in church. I promise to stand firmly by your side through whatever may come. And I promise that I will always look at you the same as I am right now. I'm pretty stoked to sit next to you for the rest of my life, whether it's at the movies, at breakfast, or on the front porch swing. I know that a marriage can never be considered "perfect," but I also know that we will have one that is perfect for us. Being yours is a privilege, and I never imagined that I could love someone the way that I love you. I could not be more thankful for the day God brought you into my life, and for all the days that are yet to come.
So, let's do this. Up top.
