Traveling: who doesn't love it? It is about exploring new places, meeting new people and making memories. I love traveling more than anything and I promise you, if it wouldn't be so freaking expensive, you'd never see me again. Unfortunately exploring new places is kind of pricey, so I have to choose wisely where and when to go.
This past weekend I went to Barcelona, Spain with my best friend. Last year we went to Amsterdam and the year before that to London. If there is one thing better than visiting new cities, it is visiting them with your best friend.
Anyway, we went to Barcelona for three days. We did a lot of sightseeing, ate a lot of good food and met a lot of very interesting people. Overall it was a good trip and my first visit in Spain.
The thing I dislike about traveling is the flying. Planes make me nervous.
On my way to Barcelona, my best friend and I were fortunate enough to have the whole emergency exit row to ourselves. But have you ever thought about how much responsibility you have sitting right next to the emergency exit? Like just imagine, who actually pays attention to what the stewardess tells you, what to do in case of an emergency. NOBODY. Just look around next time. People are on their phones, have their headphones in, sleep or talk to the person next to them, or the person sitting ten rows behind them for that matter...
I bet you don't know how to blow up your life vest, heck you probably don't even know where to find it.
My best friend and I made sure to read the directions carefully about how to open the emergency exit. Just in case. No worries, we know the steps by heart now.
Anyway, I don't like flying because of several reasons. Here are my top three.
1. Crying children
Yes, I do feel like crying too. But do you see me cry? No, I am holding it together and so should you.
2. Annoying neighbors
Especially neighbors, who are scared of flying. They are sitting next to you, telling you every two minutes that the plane is about to crash. Like, nobody is going down, would you please stop saying that before I slap you!
3. Turbulence
Whenever the seat belt sign goes on in the middle of the flight, I am sure it is time for me to die. It is quite frankly the only possible explanation, why the little light over my head just switched on. I can't stay calm. My breathing gets out of control and I feel like the air in the plane is getting thinner and thinner, and I feel in desperate need of one of the oxygen masks.
