What does it mean to grow up?
Sometimes I can't wait to grow older. Sometimes I miss being a kid. Do you know what I mean? You want to grow older because of all the life out there. You acquire a wisdom and knowledge that can never be replaced. And you have hopes and dreams to run and chase after. But you want to stay young because you were carefree. You didn't have to worry about anything. Everything was new. Everything was fun, and you appreciated the little things in life. But who says growing older means the little child inside of you should go away?
Never forget to love the little boy or girl you used to be. Perhaps he or she still lies within you. Untucked... sleeping soundly (Kiana Llanos). Remember when you saw that unusual looking cloud in the sky? I think it was an ice cream cone. But it could've been a choo-choo train. Remember when everything was an enjoyable game? Seven...eight...nine...100, ready or not here I come. Just close your eyes and keep your mind open ("Bridge to Terabithia"). Remember when you appreciated every little new thing? The brand new blue crayon. Flying through the skies, at the swing set.
Just because we grow older doesn't mean things aren't the same anymore.
The clock never stops... tick tock; it never waits... hold on, my shoelace is untied. We're growing older. It's getting late (Ben Folds). Our wrinkles and scars represent the thrilling odyssey we went through. Our wisdom is always growing. Our knowledge about ourselves and the world around us becomes immense. Better to be an hour early, than a minute too late. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The more you read, the more you learn; the more you learn, the more you yearn. Life is simpler than we think, we just insist on making it complicated (Confucius).
Never stop being in the pursuit of learning and growing; there is always something new out there. Wake up the sleeping kid inside of you to come out and play once in a while. This could be why I enjoy visiting nursing homes, and volunteering my time with children. Maybe when I grow old, you'll see me at a college party raging again, haha.
