After a long day at school or work, the one thing you can always look forward to is having your dog be more than excited to see you walk through those doors. Never once do you come inside your house where they weren't filled with happiness to see you. I think that sometimes we take the presence of our pets and loved ones for granted. We get too comfortable and sometimes forget how much better they actually make our lives.
What did we do to deserve them?
Whether it is licking the tears off your face or giving them a little bit of your food, dogs are always there for you. I like to believe that they see the very best in you. It's kind of difficult to put into words how amazing of an impact they have on us because I can't even remember my life without a dog. Maybe it is just the fury little creatures or the abnormally long tongues that are disproportional for their tiny bodies or the grace that the big dogs have when they majestically carry themselves through open land.
What did we do to deserve them?
I have no clue but they are the best things that have ever happened to us. I think my favorite thing about dogs is the are so captivated by your presence and every once in awhile they just look up you in pure awe. It's like a kid, you know you've done something right. They do the simplest acts of kindness that make you appreciate life that much more.

Yet, I've never been more thankful for someone to be by my side through long nights of studying, watching movies with me, or just being there whenever I just needed to break down for a little bit. It's truly astonishing how full of love they are. I think why we needed them was to keep our families together. There is not a perfect family out there and there is no question that a pet is as big of a part of the family as anyone else. As they have the power to uplift spirits with a just simply a slobbery, wet kiss, everyone around them slowly begins to reflect the energy of their dog.
My dog was my very best friend, until one day I had to say goodbye.
I never thought that things would be okay or be the same without her.
However, there is always room in your heart for more.
