This past week my grandfather passed away. Yes, it was heartbreaking, but it also has brought blessing into the lives of my family and I. My grandfather had been sick for over a year, so it wasn’t a major shock to us hearing news of his passing. This being one of the first major deaths within my family did make us all very frazzled, but I learned through this experience that family is the most important aspect within my life. My grandfather was always around growing up. He was at every game or performance for all 11 of his grandchildren. He was an absolute family man and I will never forget that about him, or the fact that he is the major reason why I love dessert so much!

Anyway, the true lesson that I learned from his passing is how loving and caring my family is. Minutes after his death, everyone gathered together to mourn, each grandchild reminiscing on stories of my grandfather. These were moments that I will cherish for the rest of my life. We have always been a close family, but it wasn’t until this moment that I realized that my family is the best aspect of my life.

I would never want a different one. It is sad to think that something so heartbreaking happened to make me realize that my family means the world. They are the backbone to my existence and the reason to push forward in life. They will always be there to support me though all aspects of life. My grandfather would have it no other way. He loved to be surrounded by family, and that is just what happened after his passing.

Lastly, I’d like to thank everyone who has been there to help us in this time of need, and has been there to support me and my family. My grandfather will continue to pop up within our lives at times we will least expect it, but I know deep down that he is never leaving.

Lead your life with care and compassion, and always remember that your family is the most important support system within your crazy, hectic life.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
