Dear Incoming College Freshman,
Summer is coming to a close, which means that college is right around the corner for you and me. As move in day approaches, it is so easy to get wrapped up in the fears that all of us freshman are having right now about starting college.
So what are the freshman fears you may ask? The freshman fears are thoughts that college freshman have that make them worry about what is to come for the school year. A freshman fear is not knowing where to sit in class the very first day. The fear is that you know nobody going in that first day, it's a whole new ball game. You have to learn how to make new friends and that can be kind of scary. Especially if you are anything like me and you have had the same squad leading up to college, then it is more than kind of scary. However it is not a dreadful thing, meeting new friends is going to be an amazing part of your college experience.
A freshman fear is your first college roommate. In most cases, you are going to be matched up with somebody completely random as your roommate. This happened to me, so I know what the fear of this feels like. You fear that your roommate is not going to like you or want to spend time with you. While these attributes in this fear may seem like they will be true, they are not. As incoming freshman, we are worrying about things that are so minor. Of course, it is normal to have fears going into the first year college, but fears can not take over your experience.I leave you with this quote that I have found that relates to fear. You can't be afraid to sail your ship away from your fears.
