In the last week or so, many of my elementary school, high school, and even college comrades have finally taken the leap of faith and graduated this semester. Of course there are still many of us who are plagued with the dreadful finals (myself included sadly!) but we’re going strong. I’m just amazed and so proud of everyone that I’ve seen grow into such wonderful individuals, and I wish you all the best.
Of course, those who haven’t finished their 4+ years at college may feel a little down that they didn’t realize the dream, but guess what? You’re still amazing! These days attending university while balancing life is not an easy task. I haven’t been able to finish in 4 years, but I am achieving the goals that I’ve set for myself. Of course, I have help from a loving and supportive family of blood relations and non-blood relations, but I know that most of this is from determination.
So to those of you who have finished: congratulations. You were able to achieve what you desired, and were able to go the distance. Hopefully, you’ll keep pressing forward even when life brings you down a peg or two. But remember you are not completely alone in your endeavors, no matter how much you might believe that you are. Someone is looking out for you. And you should never be afraid to ask for a little help!
To those of you who are still going: don’t falter! Life is difficult; school is difficult too, but we’ve got to push on. If you take a break in between years or semesters or what have you, you are not a failure. You needed to take a load off and get yourself together, there’s no shame in that whatsoever. What does matter is that you’re setting goals for yourself and are making them attainable in an amount of time that you feel is right to you. I’m still proud of you for at least pushing the envelope and doing all you can for yourself.
Considering that at 24, I expected my life to be drastically different than what it is right now, I’m pretty happy with what I’ve achieved. My goals are still a little far from me, but I’ve got time. I’ve started setting things in motion to make them happen, and whether you’re in school or out of school, always pace yourself and move a few pieces on the board of life to make things happen. Sometimes it feels like you can’t, but you definitely can. I believe in you and so should you.
