In everything, give thanks.

I think that it is important to take the time to tell the people you love how much you love them while they can still hear you. As things in our world become chaotic and filled with many tragedies and horrible events, it is important to realize how many things we have to be thankful for. Even after this letter, I still won’t have said enough. But, I figured what better time to give some thanks to the most important people in my life.

To my Mom and Dad,

I don’t know how you have managed to keep your sanity over the past 20 years raising me, because I know I haven’t always made it easy on you guys. But I can never thank you enough for doing so. Thank you for always giving me a roof over my head, clothes on my back, and food on my plate. And for always loving me and my siblings unconditionally. No matter the circumstances, you two have supported the four of us through everything. And you always seem to go the extra mile doing so. Without the two of you, I don’t know where I would be. And I wouldn’t be half the person I am without you. It’s really no secret I got blessed with the most loving parents there are. I don’t tell either of you hardly enough how grateful I am to have the best parents in the world. So thank you, and I love you.

To my two older brothers and older sister,

If it weren’t for you guys, my life would be ridiculously boring. To my brothers, thank you for raising me to be anything but weak. Because of you, I am strong enough to fight my own battles. Even if it took getting my butt-kicked plenty of times growing up, I’d say it made me pretty tough in the end. And they make for pretty hilarious stories now. Thank you for making me brave. Inside and out, you are the strongest people I have ever met. I will forever look up to the two of you.

everything with you. And I know I have always been a big pain in the butt, so thank you for letting me walk in your shoes (Which you left pretty huge shoes to fill). Thank you for always reminding me my dreams are never too far out of reach.

amazing people. Life would be incomplete, to say the least. Thank you for having my back always. And I mean that. You are the ones who I go to at 12 pm when I need a little break from school, and 12 am when I need a little break from life itself. And you are there for me every hour in between. Thank you for being exactly what I need to get me through the hardest times. But also, for being the most exciting and supporting people to celebrate the good times. Thank you for believing in me, when I don’t believe in myself. I truly don't thank you all enough for being the absolute best.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
