6 Weird Questions Customers Always Ask

"No question is a dumb question."

6 Weird Questions Customers Always Ask

I work at a local Hardware/Lumber yard. We all know those random people who have the craziest questions to ask. There is always that moment where you stop and look at them like, "Do you even know what you just asked?" Here are some of the random questions I have come across in the retail business.

"Do you have eggs?"

Where I work, my boss has chickens so she sells her eggs because she isn't able to eat them all so, why not? But I always wonder why you would call a lumberyard to know if they have any eggs.

"Can you tell me what the weather looks like outside?"

This is a lumber yard, not the news network. I always think it's odd when people call me to ask what the weather looks like outside. This has actually happened to me, believe it or not. One of the oddest questions asked.

"How much snow do you have?"

This goes back to the weather question. When someone called to ask me this, I just wondered if they just randomly picked a phone number and called. Why did they pick the hardware shop to call about the snow?

"Can I return this?"

This isn't a weird question in general, but when someone brings in something that is mangled and torn into pieces and still wants to return it, I always wonder if they think we can just send back anything no matter what condition it is. I can only take it back if it looks like something you would want to buy if you saw it on the shelf. So, if you want to return something, make sure it is still in good condition.

"Why is this so expensive?"

I don't make the prices for the product, I just sell them. I could not tell you why something costs as much as it does. This question is more common than you would think. People are always curious why something is priced the way that it is. I am sorry, but most associates don't know the reason why they are priced the way that they are.

"Are you open?"

I get that you want to know if someone is open before you drive all the way to town. Nobody wants to drive all the way somewhere just for them to be closed, but the first thing that comes to mind when I am asked this is, "No, I live here."

People say the funniest things without actually thinking. Sometimes when you have a question, go right ahead and ask away, but if all you need is common sense to answer the question, maybe you should just look and you will find out the answer in the nicest way.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
