College roommates can go one of a million ways but usually ends up either really good or really bad. As a sophomore, I already experienced the bad roommate situation last year. This year however, I got incredibly lucky. My crazy roommate and I clicked really well and have a ton of fun together. Speaking of my amazing roomie, one thing I have learned about her is that she's always doing odd things when no one is looking. Here are some examples of things I have caught her doing when I walked into my room.
1. Laying on the freezing tile floor
Don't ask me why.
2. Hiding under the covers with her best friend trying to pretend they were asleep
Roomie and her best friend thought it would be funny to prank me and pretend they were asleep when I came into the room. They started laughing like two seconds later.
3. Complaining about being fat while eating easy mac
If this concept isn't relatable, who even are you?
4. Twerking on one of our beds while talking to my bunny rabbit
I think this one usually starts with her leaning on her bed to go on her phone and then she somehow ends up twerking. Sometimes my bunny will make noises and usually one of us has a comment about it and so there ya have it.
5. Singing camp songs/ teaching her friends camp songs
Roomie goes to church camp every year and if one of the songs she learned there gets stuck in her head you can bet anyone around will be hearing it and much more for hours after. Most of the songs have some sort of amazing choreography which often happen to be follow the leader style.
6. Unpacking her newly bought socks. Complaining about how she doesn't have money 3 minutes later.
Roomie has a sock problem. She is absolutely obsessed and the other day I walked into the room and she was opening two new subscription sock delivery service thing along with a twelve pack of cat socks she purchased from Amazon.
7. Walking out
The only time we are really in the room at the same time for more than an hour is at nighttime when classes are over, so lots of times I'll come into the room just to find roomie leaving.
8. Thinking shes sleeping and then hearing concert band music blasting from under her covers
I live on the music floor so it's no surprise that music is always leaking out of the rooms. Sometimes when I enter my room, it will look like roomie is sleeping so I'll try to be quiet but then I randomly hear a fortissimo chord blast from under the blankets from a concert band video she's watching.
9. With her crazy sister
(as pictured in the photo corresponding to number 5)
10. Crying because she misses her cat
Roomie is in love with cats and yes, I do mean the crazy cat lady kind of love. Her entire half of the room is covered in cats and she's especially fond of her kitty back home, Otis.
11. Doing squats
Do it for the booty!
12. Dancing around
This may or may not include music playing, but more often not.
13. Holding my bunny who she claims to hate
She'll never admit it but I know roomie secretly loves my pet bunny. Sometimes I'll come in when she's holding or talking to him and I know her dislike is an act.
14. Naked
Going to shower that is.
15. Opening the door on her
Like literally hitting her with it because she's standing in her closet which is right next to the door because these rooms are tiny.
16. Incoherent
What can I say? It's college, having a little fun is essential and I don't mind helping out and being the mom when it's needed.
17. Unloading her pringles and Lunchables
Yes, my roommate is 19, yes she eats Lunchables (but not anymore because they raised prices).
18. Talking to me while she's sleeping
She likes to sing in her sleep and tell me to not eat her Pringles.
19. Popping pimples
This one is pretty nasty but she doesn't keep it as secret now that I saw her do it once and come on people, we all do it.
20. Sleeping
Ah yes, roomie in her natural habitat. Coming in while roomie is sleeping is probably the most common thing I see no matter the time of day.
We all have our strange quirks, my roomie included. Sometimes we try to keep these quirks hidden but unfortunately for my roommate,I've discovered some of these little oddities. As strange as she is, I love my roomie and I know I'm gonna be so bored without her curveballs, band music, late night showers and room naps next year.
