In November, my family adopted a rescue dog, something we've wanted to do for a long time. Kylo is a black lab mix, almost a year old, who was found on the side of the road in Tennessee. She's fun and energetic and extremely cuddly, and we all love her to pieces!

Now, I grew up having cats, so I didn't think having a dog would be too much different. Boy, was I wrong! In the past two months of being a dog owner, I have definitely learned a lot about dogs, plus I've gotten to experience a ton of weird things that dogs do. If you have a dog, I'm sure you'll relate to these crazy things!

1. Lick everything. Even weird things.

Giphy

My dog likes to lick the couch cushions, table legs, and my pants. Sometimes she just sticks her tongue out and rests it on the nearest surface. WHY?!

2. Try to become a lap dog when they are clearly too big.

Giphy

I know I don't have the biggest dog, but she definitely is too big to be a lap dog. Still, she always pushes her way on top of me whenever I sit down.

3. Shake their toys around

Giphy

I'm surprised her head doesn't hurt when she whips her head back and forth with a toy in her mouth.

4. Jump around all the time except when getting on the couch/in the car

Giphy

I don't know if my dog is lazy, but I always have to help her onto the couch or into the car. I know she CAN jump because I've seen it, but she won't when it comes to the most basic things.

5. Follow us into the bathroom

Giphy

There is no concept of privacy with dogs...

6. Chase their tails

Giphy

Why do they do that? What do they get out of it?

7. Leaning against our legs

Giphy

I'm sorry, was I in your way?

8. Fighting the vacuum

Giphy

I understand that it's a scary machine, but watching them try to attack the vacuum is hilarious.

9. Eating grass

Giphy

It always makes them sick, so why do they do it?

10. Act innocent after they've just done something wrong

Giphy

Dogs give you the eyes like they didn't just get into the trash or break something of yours. Where did they learn that?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
