Sometimes you just need to get away

I am currently in the midst of my weekend getaway--a time to reconnect with friends, a time for laughs and a time to relax. This is not only a good idea for all to do, but it refreshes you and refocuses you. Due to this I suggest that everyone should take a weekend getaway at least every six months or so.

1. You feel refreshed

By being around those that care for you, you are able to get re-centered and feel more comfortable in your own skin and with your own life. You are able to throw all stressors to the wind and be able to fully enjoy yourself for just a few days. While the time is short, it does wonders for you!

2. You feel refocused

After my getaway, I truly felt refocused and ready to finish off my school and the semester before my winter break. Being in Grad School is stressful many times and being able to put that all aside and focus on my friends was a good way to refocus and be able to dial in and finish the semester off strong.

3. It's good for your mental health

Beyond being able to hang out with your friends, the laughing you will do during this time and the games you will play and the winding down that you can do during this time period fully de-stresses you. Take time to play board games or card games because the conversations that can stem from that and the memories you can make are worth the time.

Overall, it is totally worth it to go on a weekend getaway. It not only does wonders for you but also it allows you to take time to yourself and enjoy things that you want to choose and do the things you want to do. If you have the chance to getaway I highly suggest that you do so because it will do wonders for you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
