What You Need To Know This Week In The 'News'
ianfarrington.wordpress.com

Every single day the internet has something new and beautiful to offer up. Whether that means productive information, jokes, or hilarious videos and clips is really up to you. Personally, I enjoy a good laugh from something I've never seen before (and occasionally things I've rewatched 500 times).

While there are plenty of serious things happening in the world right now I also know that occasionally there should be a break from all of the seriousness. It's hard to stay positive when you just hear about all of the bad stuff that happens.

This week you've missed the following.

This kid failing at well... everything.

I just think this is the funniest thing I've ever seen. Shout out to the subreddit "r/childrenfallingover" for bringing this beauty into my life. While this isn't technically news, it is definitely something that should be. Hello, Fox News, you should have a fails segment. It would seriously help your ratings out.

These not so skilled thieves...

I'm honestly not convinced that this even needs an explanation. Just know that you missed it and you needed to see it.

A woman fell into a trash compactor?

OK, so maybe this one isn't a video, but I couldn't resist mentioning it. I think it's pretty ridiculous that someone would agree to retrieve a teenagers' keys from a trash compactor. At that point, I would simply declare my keys a loss and move on with my life. But since this woman decided to be a good Samaritan, she certainly deserves to be recognized as some kind of hero, right?

Ferris Bueller gets old.

While I wasn't born when Ferris Bueller's Day Off was released, it's been a movie that I've bonded over with plenty of my friends. It's pretty strange to me that this iconic film has finally turned 30. Fortunately, I'm sure it still has plenty of time left to be relevant.

So if you're like me and you can't stand reading really depressing news, that was some of the pretty cool things you missed out on.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
