As college starts to wind down because finals are in a week, students are panicking. There are grades that need to be changed, there are assignments that need to be turned in, and quizzes that still need to be taken. Overall, college students minds are going in circles because this is the last week before finals to get their grades together. All I have to say is, "Take a chill pill, it'll be alright"
In college, there is a lot of understanding! But that is only if the student has a realistic story and not a sob story. Many of my professors said to not come to them with a sob story because they will not believe you and even worse... won't change their grade. There is also the end of the semester evaluations, those are crucial to the many professors and TAs. The reason is, if the student thinks the professor or TA was absolutely terrible, then their boss will pay attention to that evaluation and take it into consideration.
In college, there is a lot of groups that will help the student out if they are stressed out. One particular group is called "Accepted". Although I have not been able to make it to the meetings, but what they do is allow a person to talk about their issues (if they are comfortable with it). Basically, if no one has not been listening to you lately, this group would be perfect for you! This is very important especially to those who are experiencing a mental disturbance in their life. This group is open to everyone! One thing I have found is that there is a big difference between the white and black community when it comes to our mental health. In the white community, they are open to talking about things like that. Whereas in the black community, we don't speak of our disturbance. So with this group, the black community can basically have a free therapy session; I will actually be in attendance because it is time to be healthy when it comes to my mind.
As Bowling Green State University enters its last week of class of Spring 2017, there are a lot of things to consider: Your mental health, physical health, and emotional health. These three things are crucial to everyone believe it or not. So if one is not taking care of at least one of these things, the other two will be off balance. Which is also terrible when it comes to finals the following week. Everyone who is in college or has been in college knows the stress that overcomes them when it comes to finals. It doesn't matter if their exams are scattered throughout the week or they are all in one day, it doesn't matter! Each student just needs to be mindful of their body and mind, they have to take care of those things while dealing with this stress.
