Like most college students, I don’t plan ahead. Whether it’s a trip for spring break, a big project, or something as simple as what I’m going to have for dinner.
However, the one thing that I defy the odds with is that I have my entire wedding planned.
And yes, you read that right.
I’m a freshman in college, 19 years old, I don’t know whether I’m going to have the chicken or the beef flavored ramen for dinner, but I know exactly what song will be played five minutes into the reception.
This all started when my sister got engaged and began to plan her wedding, and it was only natural that I began to plan mine.
I would be looking at dresses for her and just happen to see one that I know I’d look bomb in, and that’s how 167 wedding dresses got saved on my Pinterest page. Or I’d be searching wedding bands to see what would good with her engagement ring, being the sweet sister I am, and now I have 78 rings picked out.
It’s fine. I’m not addicted or anything.
Then, she started looking at venues and then that’s when things really got fun.
I’ve got eight places picked out—in North Carolina—that have places outside for the ceremony, and places inside for the reception. They also have their own catering companies for the food. So, I was all set.
And it doesn't stop there.
I’ve spent nearly three hours picking out songs for the father-daughter dance, the first dance as husband and wife, and the last song of the night. I know who is going to be my maid of honor and each of my bridesmaids. And I have all of the colors picked out.
Like I said, I am not addicted.
So, when the time finally comes for that lucky guy to pop the question, I only have one thing to say other than “yes,” and that is:
You are welcome for planning our wedding.
