As I travel back (a whole 20 minutes) to my hometown of Webster, New York for a long four-month summer, I begin to wonder how I will keep myself entertained. Webster may not be the most exciting place in the world to live, but there are plenty of activities you can find to do. Here are just a few of my favorite things to do on a boring summer day here in Webster:
1. Take a drive down to the lake.
On a nice warm summer day, it is always relaxing and fun to take a drive down Lake Ontario and walk the pier. Sure it may smell like fish, but you get used to it.
2. Shop around Webster Plaza.
Whether we realize it or not, Webster has a fairly decent plaza filled with various different stores and food places. This is always a go-to for me considering how much I love shopping.
3. Go to the movie theater.
Webster has one of the greatest movie theaters around, with the newly added reclining chairs. I would highly recommend visiting Lowes on a rainy summer day.
4. Visit one of the many ice cream places.
Whether you prefer Bruster's or Abbott's, Webster has some amazing places to get the best food in the world, ice cream of course! On a summer evening, nothing truly tastes better than an ice cream cone from your favorite place around.
5. Attend many of the concerts and movie events located at the gazebo in the village.
There are often events in the village of Webster such as village days, where various bands perform for free. Not to mention the loads of food that comes with it… I mean who can resist fried dough and kettle corn? Not me!
6. The Webster Carnival
Although this may not be an event we look forward to as much while we age, we all know that it was once the best week of the summer. Even if the carnival isn’t for you, there are always fireworks on the last night that everyone can enjoy!
So there you have it, just a few of the many things to do here in Webster, New York, whether you’re a college student stuck home for four months, or a high school student looking to keep busy over the summer. It may get boring sometimes, but always remember Webster is where life is worth living!
