ARG! If you are like me you have those days where every. little. thing. pisses you off. By the end of the day I'm so wound up I start to drive myself insane. Throughout my years of being angsty and irritated, I've discovered some of the most effective ways to safely discard my aggression. So let it out because holding it in only increases your chances of exploding.
1. Scream - A good old fashioned winded screech not only lets people know to steer clear of you, but it also physically releases pressure. I almost always feel ten times better after burying my face in my pillow and letting it all out. Key: for best results, flare nostrils and bare teeth; it boosts your confidence level when you know you are looking scary as hell.
2. Vent - Find that poor soul who listens to all your crap and unload. A friend, a pet, a parent -- call them up and spill everything. They don't even have to know what you're talking about. The best part is you aren't looking for a solution, just someone who will listen and take your side. (Note for listener: angry party is always right while angry; when the time comes you may correct them, but make sure they have simmered down considerably.)
3. Stay distracted - Three seconds ago I painted my toenails in 45 degree weather. I couldn't stand thinking about what was angering me anymore so I focused on something else. Draw, go for a run, watch Netflix, or burn all his things in a destructive bonfire. (Let's face it, we are most likely pissed at a guy.) Anything is better than sitting and stewing...does writing this article count as sitting and stewing? Nah.
4. Treat Yo Self - Straight from the mouth of Tom Haverford, spend some time with your favorite things. Buy all your fav foods and snacks, then eat them all in one sitting. No one can be mad after 23 cosmic brownies, fact.
5. Sleep it off - Naps are scientifically proven to be the best thing in the world. When you're asleep you can't be mad. Also, after waking up, I often forget what I was mad about in the first place.
