The holidays are a time of love, family, and merriness. As most of the songs say, it's the greatest, or most wonderful, time of year. What is important to keep in mind is that there are people less fortunate who may not be able to see their family, or may not be able to afford presents for their loved ones. There are always ways to give back this holiday season.
1. Volunteer at your local soup kitchen
It'll be sure to put a smile on someone's face, especially for the holiday season.
2. Donate supplies to your local animal shelter
There are also unfortunate animals who don't have a nurturing home to live in. Animal shelters are always looking for food, grooming supplies, toys, and many other supplies.
3. Participate in a food drive
There are always food drives going on around campuses or around your town. Just dropping a few non-perishable food items will be an ample amount of help.
4. Participate in a coat drive
As the months get chillier, we break out the heaviest winter coats that we own. Unfortunately, there are some people who aren't able to afford heavy coats. If there are any winter coats that you grew out of, don't throw them away, drop them off at a coat drive. There is always someone who could use it.
5. Participate in a toy drive
We all eventually grow out of those Barbie dolls and Hot Wheelz. Instead of throwing them in the trash can, donate them to someone who could use them! If they still work, they can still put a smile on someone else's face this holiday season.
