It's that time of the year again- midterms week. That week where you've lost all motivation to go to class, to study and to get the papers done. However, midterms week is always easier to struggle through in the fall. The weather is still nice, there is a new picture painted outside your bedroom window as the leaves change colors, and there are all new flavored coffees to drink through your sleepless nights. Sometimes the workload can become overbearing and you've had your fill. Here are a few ways to destress and take your mind off of the work and focus on the beauty around you.
1. Go for a nature walk
Find a nearby walking or hiking trail through the woods, you'll get a nice breath of fresh air while seeing the amazing scenery as the colors are changing around you. Your body will thank you. The fresh air will boost your immune system, and the smell of pine tress will help lower stress levels. You will feel utterly rejuvenated and ready to seize the day.
2. Carve a pumpkin with your friends
If you are feeling the pressure piling on by every passing second, chances are your friends are too. Get together with your friends and head to a pumpkin farm, stop and get some apple cider, and enjoy the day out and about. Find some fun patterns to carve the pumpkins. Laughter is the best medicine.
3. Visit a haunted house or a corn maze
Whether it be a relaxed jaunt through a small local corn maze or an adventure full of adrenaline running from any shadow in sight. A night out will keep your mind busy and distracted from all the stress you're dealing with.
4. Watch Hocus Pocus
Does this even need any further explanation?
5. Burn a candle and read a book
The fall candle collections surpass any other season. They are fresh, fruity, and full of spices. Curling up on the couch with a fuzzy blanket, lighting a candle and reading a new book is the perfect ending to any day.
Midterms are never a walk in the park, they're always a trying a stressful part of a persons life. Take some time to put aside to relax and focus on yourself; and though life is currently overwhelming, exhausting, and stressful always be thankful.
