Watching someone grow up is an amazing thing. Whether it's you, your friend, or a sibling. As we grow up, we all find our true selves and find what we want to do with our lives. How cool is it to watch someone become what they want and do what they want? One day, you're out back swinging on swings and sliding down slides and the next thing you know you're all grown up and walking around high school or a college campus.
When it comes to siblings, it's even cooler to watch them grow up. In my case, I have one sibling, a younger sister. Seems like just the other day I was still in high school, coming home every day from school and seeing her and my family. I never really paid attention to how she was growing up. But, now that I don't see her everyday, I realize how she's growing up.
I've had many proud brother moments. Through all of our fights and arguments, she still looks up to me, though she may not admit it. She made her first high school sports team this year, girl's soccer, and already has more goals in her first few games than I did in my high school career. Now, not that I'm defending myself or anything, but she does play offense and I played defense so that seems a little unfair. But, it's still great to see that she is doing this well and can only get better! Not only soccer, but she is also taking up piano like I did. She has a lot to live up to because I set the bar pretty high with that, if I must say so myself.
Emily is growing up so fast, she's already a freshman in high school. It's crazy to think that she is that old already. Where did the time go? She'll be going to her first high school dance this year. And you better believe I'll be talking to whatever boy asks her to go with him, I have to make sure he'll be okay for her.
She hates talking about boys with me, she just doesn't want me to embarrass her for some reason. She's lucky to have me to check out the boys, though, I didn't have an older sibling to help me out. But again, she'll never admit that she's thankful because that would mean she would have to show too much love. She'll thank me one day, I'm sure of it. It'll be great to see where she ends up in life, hopefully I'll have some influence on it some way. I love you, Emily!
