"Younger" is a show on TV Land that began its second season on Tuesday, Jan. 13! After binge-watching the first season of the show, I was already completely hooked! The witty and sarcastic dialogue is comparable to that of "Gilmore Girls," yet another loved show! The plot is unlike any show you have ever seen, and every episode promises a laugh.
First of all, the starring actress is none other than the Tony Award winner, singer, and dancer Sutton Foster. Sutton has performed in countless shows on Broadway, including Fiona in "Shrek the Musical," Jo in "Little Women," Millie in "Thoroughly Modern Millie," Reno in her award-winning show "Anything Goes" and just recently played the starring role in "Violet."
Sutton is an amazing singer, actress, and dancer! Yes, ladies and gentlemen -- a triple threat! She has received countless awards for her roles on Broadway and has quite the fangirl following on social media. She is talented and drop-dead gorgeous, which makes her a perfect fit for her role in "Younger." In the show, her character is that of Liza Miller, who can be summed up as a 40-year-old divorced woman who attempts to pass as a 26-year-old in order to get a job at a publishing company. First of all, how many actresses in their 40s can pull off looking 26? This would be hard to accomplish even with makeup and the correct lighting. But trust me, watch the show and you’ll completely believe that Sutton Foster is 26 years old!
Sutton is then lucky enough to team up with a co-worker, Kelsey Peters, to help her navigate the tricky ins and outs of the company. Hilary Duff, who plays Kelsey, is the second reason you should be binge-watching this show! She is of course star of the Disney Channel series "Lizzie McGuire," where she played a quirky teen girl who showed all the '90s kids what the true middle school experience consisted of. And who didn’t love "Cadet Kelly"? The artsy Kelly Collins was shipped off to military school at the drop of a hat and forced to live in her barracks (without her childhood blanket). Hilary Duff is now all grown up and starring in "Younger" alongside Sutton Foster. Her character, Kelsey, takes the “young” Liza Miller under her wing, completely oblivious to the fact that she is a 40-year-old woman.
The third main character in "Younger" is Maggie, played by Debi Mazar. Maggie is a 40-something lesbian artist who lives in Brooklyn, New York. Maggie is the cause of Liza’s return to her 20-year-old life. She convinces Liza that she could pass for a young adult. She is the only one who knows about Liza’s secret and adds much of the comedy and sarcasm to an already incredibly witty show.
"Younger" was created by Darren Star. If you can recall, he is also the creator of "Sex and the City," and if that’s not enough reason to watch the show, then I don’t know what will possibly convince you.
