What's funnier than the things that kids say? Tom Hanks and Jimmy Fallon acting out the things that kids say.
On October 15, Tom Hanks appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to talk about his new movie, "Bridge of Spies." The laughs were off to a great start from the get-go. For his short interview, the pair talked little about the actual movie, and mostly about Hanks' life. He is arguably one of the biggest actors of our time, and has managed to stay insanely humble and likeable. There's something funny and charming about watching a man who is supposed to talk about his new movie instead talk about wearing berets in the winter so he doesn't get too cold. It's nice to see someone so huge not take things too seriously. It was a great setup to see just how funny Tom Hanks actually is.
Fallon concluded the interview by asking the Oscar-winning actor if he wanted to take part in his segment, "Kid Theater," where children write scripts that Fallon and his guests act out. Of course, being the good sport that he is, Hanks agreed.
For this segment of "Kid Theater," kids were told to write a script for "Bridge of Spies." The catch is, they were told nothing about the actual plot of the movie. The only thing they had to go off of was the title and, boy, were their scripts hilarious. The best part of the entire thing was how serious Tom Hanks was when reading them. He read like it was his last shot at an audition for a role he's wanted more than anything else in his life. A phenomenal performance, and so funny.
I think with a little polishing, we might see a couple of these scripts hit theaters before we know it.
