"It's Raining Men" is a classic. Everyone has heard this song. It's a fantastic oldies jam, even though I wish that it was a more realistic event that could happen IRL. However, have you actually seen the music video for this iconic song? Surprisingly, not many people in our generation have. I discovered this music video about a year ago, by chance, and I found that my life calling is to raise awareness for it. So, this is why you should go watch it right this second.
First of all, you won't know what you are getting into, but, as you can see from the cover for this single, it will be exciting.
The video is probably the best ever made, with amazing '80s green-screen technology, well-made props, and flamboyant male dancers in speedos and trench coats.
It has a giant heart shaped bed (very erotic), the same male dancers dressed as angels, and a creepy Mother Nature figure.
There are also long, uncomfortable close-ups.
There is also this amazing part where the dancers fall from the sky onto the pop singer's bed and, in a terrifying moment for the first time watcher, he almost steps directly on her.
Reminder: you are not watching some weird almost-porno, this is a music video for a popular song.
When I watch this music video, I feel a mixture of fear, confusion, and extreme joy. It is like being inside an uncomfortable erotic dream in which you are wearing a silky white nightie and there are a million scary dancers in trench coats coming for you. They're trying to seduce you with the power of dance, but their intense stage smiles are just so scary that you start to run away. Wait, that's not the music video, that was an actual dream that I had. (I think that I've watched this video too many times.)
Anyway, this is clearly a work of artistic genius that is (arguably) better than the sky actually raining men. So, if you have never seen the music video before, please go watch as soon as possible so that you can become an educated human being and also always have something to laugh about in the back of your mind.
