Over Mother’s Day weekend, I had the pleasure of watching "Overboard" and let me tell you, I am promoting this movie all around to my Twitter followers, friends, and family so I thought why not my Odyssey fam? Although Rotten Tomatoes claims 68% liked it, I can tell you that you’ll 100% love it. It is quirky, funny, and wholesome.

1. Support Latinx in films

Let me tell you, there is more than just Sofia Vergara, Gina Rodriguez, and Eva Longoria in the Hollywood business. Eugenio Derbez is an icon in my own personal life as he had his own shows in Spanish, such as La Familia Peluche or even XHDerbez which are phenomenal and are on Netflix. Recently, he helped create the first ever Latino Hollywood studio company named Pantelion, a partnership between Televisa and Lionsgate! How cool is he? This is actually the 35th movie that Pantelion has produced.

2. Eugenio Derbez is a great comedian

Maybe you have not heard of Eugenio Derbez but I am here to let everyone know that that man is a genius and is widely known all throughout Mexico. My mother and I still make references to his sayings to this day.

He will make you laugh, cry, and although he might not be William Levy, his goofy smile can make you smile along as you watch the movie. If you want a heart clincher and a feel-good movie, look no further. Overboard and Instructions Not Included are meant for you. Señor Derbez, if you ever read this, just know I am a huge fan, keep doing you.

3. It is a feel-good movie that will make you laugh.

I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical about Anna Faris and Eugenio Derbez being in a movie together as they are different types of funny. However, they make this movie great. Their antics and interactions throughout the movie are hilarious and will leave you warm and fuzzy inside. Of course, I do not want to ruin the movie for y’all but they are the dynamic duo in this film.

4. This movie is actually a reboot from the original movie that came out in 1987.

Guess what? This movie is actually waaaaay better and there is diversity! The plot is also twisted as well due to the single mom being the one that is a financial crisis while attempting to become a nurse. The protagonist/antagonist (depending on how you see it) is actually a Mexican man who essentially is a trust fund baby. Win for diversity and for feminism because let me tell you, that woman is trying her hardest to be a great mother while also providing for her three daughters.

5. Even if you don't speak/understand Spanish, there are captions!

In the day where the second most spoken language in the United States is Spanish, it is okay if you do not speak or understand it. However, do not worry because even though the movie contains partial Spanish, there are captions for those that might not get the innuendos or metaphors that our rich language contains. (How about that Aaron Schlossberg?) Stop being a hater from outside of the club when you can’t even get in.

So what are you waiting for?! Go watch this movie.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
