Dun daaaa dada da da daaaaaaaa...
For those of you who don't watch The Office, that probably seemed like gibberish. But for those of you who do, perhaps you recognized the first few notes of the opening theme in those words. If you don't watch or have never watched The Office, you really should. Here's why:
1. The weird and yet somehow relatable characters.
Oh man, where to begin. Everyone in The Office is so bizarre. Creed (see top GIF), for instance, is sketchy AF. For instance, in "Murder" (6.10), when the office is playing a murder mystery game, Creed shows up late and Michael (in character) tells him, "There's been a murder," Creed tells him he needs to get something from his car and then runs to it and speeds away. Uh...Creed, what have you done?
Besides Creed, there are other characters that have such distinct and weird personalities, like Dwight, Phyllis, and Meredith, to name a few. And even Jim has his quirks, but luckily he is relatable enough that there's at least one character the audience can identify with.
2. The random humor.
Michael Scott says the most random things. He has no filter. Which makes him hilarious, but sometimes quite rude. However, he's mostly just funny because of how strangely his mind works and how quick he is to say things, or talk about things he has no knowledge about.
3. Michael's expressions.
Steve Carrell has an amazing face. Is that weird to say? Anyway, he's just so expressive. Like how can your face mold into so many different shapes and convey so many feelings?
4. The irony.
(Kevin's not stupid necessarily but... he can come off that way.)
Another example is when Michael, by far the least self-aware character, says in regards to Andy, "I don't understand how someone can have so little self-awareness" ("The Return", 3.13). It's nice to see the show is self aware, at least.
5. Stanley Hudson.
I know I already mentioned the characters in general, but Stanley is such a gem. He is so sassy. He has a lot of great one-liners. Also, he loves pretzel day (a day where they give out free doughy pretzels at the office) so much. The poor guy lives for it, because there's nothing else for him to look forward to in his boring job.
If Stanley can't convince you, nothing will. So...
