Dear future me,

I am writing you this letter hoping this is how things will turn out. It is not every day that we can have a few quiet moments to ourselves and just think about our past or our future. I hope you are doing great. I hope you are doing more than great, actually. My dreams turned into goals and I hope they are completed.

You see, I hope you graduated college and got the degree you were planning to get. I hope you got the job that you were always trying to explain to people what it actually was. I hope you succeeded in that area of life. I hope you are chasing after Jesus more than you now as I am writing this letter. I hope that you used your gifts from God and expanded those talents in more uses than just one. I want you to also know that I prayed for you every single day.

I prayed that when you went through battles, that you would look to the Heavenly one and not to the world for advice. I prayed that you would remain strong in your faith so that maybe one day you could reach many others for Christ.

I can only have hope and faith that you did not fall back on your old ways. You are beautiful, kind, smart, talented, loyal, and humble. I hope these words are still true and that maybe you added some more along the way. I do not know what trials and temptations that you will go through, but I do know that Jesus will never leave you nor forsake you.

I hope you published that book of poems you were planning to publish one day. I hope that you were able to help other young girls who might be going through the same thing you are. I hope you are still friends with the new people that you have made because quite frankly, these people are amazing and I enjoy being in their presence today. I hope that you found the man of your dreams and the man that God made just for you.

I pray that your relationship with your husband is strong and that he loves God more than he loves you. That is how a relationship will work. I pray for your children every night that they will be a vessel of God in this life. I pray that you have the ability to be a good mother, wife, and friend. I really hope that you will not give up on different things because that is when we truly find our character.

To finish this letter, I want you to know that when this letter was written, I was going through a fuzzy spot in life. Confused about relationships and what I should be doing with my life. I want you to know that I will be ok because I know that you will be great.

Sincerely,

Your 2018 self

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
