Burst the bubble into a million pieces

We stick to what we know is safe. All animals learn this simple rule as a method of survival. Birds are hesitant to leave the nest. Giraffes wobble as they take their first steps immediately after birth. Humans become creatures of habit.

Break the habits.

Routine is a killer of creativity.

Be different; be bold; be you. See where your feet, mind, and heart take you. Dream big. Strike out in fear, rather than fidget with regret. Trust in the universe to envelop you in its vastness. That’s how we begin life, isn’t it?

A life in a bubble isn’t a life at all.

Go to China. Visit the Great Wall. Interact with the locals. See the Terracotta Army. Try the food.

Fly to India. Drink in the opulence of the Royal Mysore Palace. Meditate at the Golden Temple. Sketch out the Taj Mahal before you.

Step foot in New Zealand. Bathe in the soft hum of the glowworm caves. Swim in the Turquoise Pool. Marvel at the Karijini National Park.

Explore Iceland. Ogle at the midnight sun. Relax in the Blue Lagoon. Try eating shark.

Let yourself become overwhelmed by Antarctica. Watch polar bears. Travel in a panga. Gaze at the Southern Lights.

Delve into Morocco. Learn Darija. Ride a camel. Survey the Atlas Mountains. Soak in the blue stones of Chefchaouen. Pop by medinas and souks. Try your hand in bartering.

Experience Argentina. Trek through Patagonia. Whale watch. Kayak. Breathe in the clean air.

Be serenaded by France. Engorge yourself with pastries. Meander through the streets of Paris. Stroll through the Gardens of Versailles. Visit the countryside.

Fall in love with Switzerland. Photograph the Matterhorn. Dip your toe in Lake Geneva. Bask in the sight of the Chateau de Chillon. Stay at St. Moritz.

“If you’re twenty-two, physically fit, hungry to learn and be better, I urge you to travel – as far and as widely as possible. Sleep on floors if you have to. Find out how other people live and eat and cook. Learn from them – wherever you go” – Anthony Bourdain.

Save up now. Value experience over possession; it makes for much cleaner storage. Work hard and dream.

Poke your way through Pinterest. Write down interesting ideas. Update your bucket list constantly. This is your life to live.

Journal every day. Tell your truth. It continuously changes. Make a legacy. Your life is yours and yours only.

This world is much too beautiful to live in one place. Learn to respect yourself and people who are different from you. Become whole. Learn words that have no English translation. Gain perspective. Enrich your conversations with unforgettable experiences in which you truly learned the value of love and the beauty of life.

Become nomadic. You were born here but that does not mean that you were meant to stay. Channel the wanderer. Take the road less taken. Find stability in constant motion. Learn to appreciate your breath. It pumps through your body, nothing more than a mini Earth.

Build your soul from bits and pieces around the world.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
