On May 11th, 2017, Walt Disney World had its last showing of the firework spectacular show, "Wishes." The nighttime show debuted in October 2003. With its almost 14 years of showing, 'Wishes' impacted a lot of lives with its meaning. Having been raised watching this firework show, I grew attached very quickly; every night had a perfect ending.

Here are a few reasons why 'Wishes' will always be special to me:

1. Disney's atmosphere

Disney does a great job of always bringing people together and making them understand that anything can happen if you just believe. During the show, "Wishes" helped hundreds of families, friends, and couples come together to watch and receive the message the show offered: wishes do come true.

2. The soundtrack

The soundtrack to "Wishes" was very touching. It combined multiple different songs from movies. They all came together to create one of the best Disney mash-ups ever. I will constantly find myself singing along to the songs as they play during the show as I remember my favorite Disney films. I also find myself getting chills when they sing,"All Our Wishes Will Come True."

3. Cinderella's Castle

Cinderella's castle is breath taking. Thousands of people stand in front of the castle and take pictures just because of how beautiful it is. Being able to stand in front of it and watch one of the most spectacular fireworks shows will always be one of my favorite memories.

4. The message

Throughout the whole soundtrack, the audience is told that they should always follow their dreams and wishes and they just might come true. This makes this show so unique because of the powerful message it upholds throughout its entirety.

5. Fireworks

The fireworks were always spectacular. The way they were made to go alone with the music always blew my mind. I will never forget how amazing it was when I first experienced it. These fireworks were truly the best I have ever seen before.

6. It was always there for me

No matter the day, I will still turn on the "Wishes" soundtrack if needed to cheer me up. It was always there and always reminded me to keep dreaming and believing in myself. That is the true meaning behind the show.

7. "Perfect ending"

"Wishes" was always the perfect ending to a perfect day. After running around the parks, it was wonderful to relax and watch a truly incredible firework show. Although it may be over, "Wishes" will always be some of the best memories. I will never forget how it made me believe in myself and in my dreams.

It is time to move onto a next chapter and find our new "Happily Ever After".

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
