2 Corinthians 5:7 says, "We walk by faith and not by sight."
This is a constant reminder that I need in my life. I am a very controlling person in the sense that I like to be in control of everything. I like routine and for everything to be structured. In life, it doesn't really work like that. I have a story to share with you that helps me, and maybe it will help you, too.
Spring is my favorite time of the year. This is the time of the year when everything starts to bloom and turn green after being dead all winter. If I were at home, this would be the time of year when I would start my flowers inside and start making plans for my garden. However, being at college I didn't exactly have the means to start my houseplants, and I certainly couldn't plant a garden here.
So, I did what any normal college student would do: I made a trip to Walmart. On my trip, I bought a flower pot, some sunflower seeds, and potting soil.
All of my friends thought this was such a waste and such a stupid idea. Regardless of what they said, I bought my supplies, brought them back to my room and planted my seeds anyway. After a few days, my seeds began to sprout, and this made me really happy. Now my seeds are around 7 inches tall and doing great.
I told you this story to tell you this: in life, there are going to be times when people are discouraging you. They won't see your vision, and you might even struggle believing it.
This is where you just have to put your faith in God and start. When I planted those seeds, there was no guarantee that they would grow. In life, there are no guarantees. We can plan and organize all we want; however, if it's not God's plan, it's not going to happen. This is when we have to put our faith in God and trust him; therefore, we are "walking by faith and not by sight."
Then, if you put your faith in God and trust him, Isaiah 40:31 says, "But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint."
