Would you consider yourself more of a morning person or a night owl? The recommended sleep time for adults is about 7-9 hours a night. Recently, I realized I have been sleeping on the higher end of that, and then will have trouble falling asleep the next night. (Coincidence? I think not!) So, either I could go to bed a little bit later, or I could wake up a little bit earlier. Being more of a morning person, I chose to start waking up at 5am... and it's been great! Below are 3 reasons why the transition into waking up this early has been incredible:
You Rise WITH the Sun
At 5am, it is still pretty dark where I live. It makes it perfect for waking up and actually getting to watch the sunrise over the city every morning. Getting to start your day with the sun, now that is a whole new kind of happiness!
It's Quiet
Not just quiet... a whole different type of quiet! Where it really does feel like you are the only one up in the world. A world where I can actually hear myself think! That being said, I am definitely most productive, especially with my writing, during this hour.
Day Feels Longer
Being up so early and having less time sleeping, makes it obvious that the day is going to be longer. With this new routine, my day feels less rushed, longer and as if I have more time where I am motivated to get stuff done. I perform my morning routine earlier and I have extra time to write or hang out with my family before going to work. That alone automatically starts my day off on a positive note.
There are a lot of benefits to waking up at 5am that I have been grateful to experience. Do not get me wrong, I still love the feeling of sleeping in, but this has been a great change of pace to get in some extra writing time! Hopefully after reading this article, it will inspire you to wake up early at least once. That way, you can feel like you are not either sleeping too little or too much, but maybe juuust right?
Be happy, stay positive, and always remember: all good things happen in 3's. Best, Queen Vi.
