Waiting for Thanksgiving Break as Told by Gilmore Girls

“Shouldn’t we give thanks first?”

Waiting for Thanksgiving Break as Told by Gilmore Girls

Can you believe it’s already November? I feel like it was just fall break and now Thanksgiving break is almost here, which means the semester is almost over. The stress of midterms, passing classes and an insane workload is almost gone. After Thanksgiving break, we just have to make it through finals and then it’s holiday season! It came so quickly and as much as I love college I cannot wait to be home for break with my family and friends. The Gilmore Girls have the perfect reactions to just about everything, nothing can stress them out when they have coffee by their sides. Let’s see how they feel about Thanksgiving break coming up!

1. It’s November already?

Believe me I am just as shocked as Emily Gilmore appears to be. I feel like and I bet many of you do too that I was just moving in for my second year of college and now Thanksgiving break is almost here! Where did the time go?

2. Will the workload ever end?

I think Paris’s expression pretty much sums it up. In the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving break you feel like the work just doesn’t stop coming and it may never stop.

3. The stress

Sometimes, like Sookie, when you’re so stressed out you’re not sure if you are crying or laughing. It may be a little bit of both.

4. Can’t get sick!

According to Richard’s mother, Gilmore’s don’t get sick. So as long as you’re a Gilmore you have nothing to worry about, right? That’s unfortunate for the rest of us, but we can all just hope for the best!

5. Just a few more days’ left

Like Lorelai we may need coffee in an IV with only a few days left until break, professors will be giving us work upon work. Coffee is the only way we stay up and survive the days ahead.

6. Not being able to wait to see family and friends

The happy dance that Lorelai is doing is how we feel when we finally get to see our family and friends again! We will be so happy when we get home!

7. The food

We may not have four Thanksgiving dinners to go to like Rory and Lorelai, but we would be happy to eat four dinners worth of Thanksgiving food. I can’t wait for the turkey, the mashed potatoes and the stuffing, my mouth is watering just thinking about it!

8. Yay for the holiday season!

Thanksgiving is just the start to the holiday season, then comes Hanukkah and then Christmas! After break we only have a few weeks and then finals and we get to the month long break and celebrate! I don’t know about you, but I’m excited for the snow just like Luke and Lorelai (aren't they the cutest?).

We just have to get through a few more days until Thanksgiving break and the holiday season, so let’s take a page out of Lorelai’s book to get through it, “Coffee please, and a shot of cynicism.”

Have a great Thanksgiving break!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
