"JUST DO IT!"

I Asked 15 People, 'Is It Better To Wait For Good Things To Happen Or To Go Out There And Make Things Happen?'

I asked 15 people their thoughts on the question, "Do you believe you should wait for a good thing to happen or that you should get out there and make great things happen? They say that good things come to those that wait… But they also say you can't just sit back and wait for a good thing to happen." The answers I got were eye opening and insightful. Here are some of the answers I got…

"It's a mix of both, you don't rush something, but you also can't just sit back and wait for something you want."

"Yes, good things come to those who wait, but if you sit around waiting for something good to happen without putting in any effort whatsoever, you'll be waiting forever. Hard work is the key to any kind of success whether it's a job or a relationship or anything like that. Without going out and being proactive, there's no way to see growth or good things in the future."

"You'll never know if you're doing the right thing, so just do what feels right and then at least you can say you never ignored your gut."

"I think it depends on what that 'good thing' is. If it's something within your control you should do what you can to get it, but if it is not something you have any control over, stressing over it won't help, so just wait and hope for the best. Good things happen to those who wait for the right opportunity and are prepared for it. If you're not ready to take any action to obtain it, then waiting will do you no good."

"Well I think that if there's something you want you should go out there and get it."

"I would say go out and find it. Time is limited… We aren't going to live forever. If you aren't happy make whatever changes you need to, so that you are."

"I believe that you have to work for it yourself, nothing is just handed to you and you never know if tomorrow is guaranteed."

"Ummm thats hard… I think both, but it also depends on the subject."

"Personally I find that you have to get out there to make good things happen. Whenever I wait, it seems like more can go wrong. So if I stay proactive and work hard, I can guarantee good results and I won't have to wait for them to just happen… That feeling of accomplishing a goal is much better than having something good happen without any effort."

"I truly believe that good things happen to people that wait, but I am very impatient so I say go out there and make great things happen!"

"You can do both but personally I'd go out there and experiment and learn, if you don't you'll never know what that one great thing you're seeking to make it happen."

"I think you should go out and see what comes to you. Einstein didn't just wake up knowing he was a genius. He put his mind to work and strived for what he wanted to achieve."

"Well, two things. One, I guess it depends. I think with romance you should wait for it to come. But like if you want to be a millionaire or something you should make it happen but also I think you should make things happen but still have patience and know that whatever you want to happen probably won't happen right away!"

"I think both statements could apply to different scenarios but I agree more with if you want something you should go and get it."

"You need to make the first move towards any good thing happening. If it seems like its going in the direction of working out, then continue working towards that, but if it starts feeling like a dead end, you have to know when to back off and pursue something else."

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
