A Visitor In My Hometown

My first visit back from college was great!

A Visitor In My Hometown

I have officially survived my first week of college. I have gotten that first taste of college work. It has already made me realize that college is NOTHING like high school. When you get to college everything you do is on you. Your success is based off of your choices that you are forced to make daily. This first week has shown me that people weren't lying when they told me that college can be stressful. I already know it is only going to get worse. I have also learned that you will be exposed to numerous different types of people. With all of this being said, I am happy to say that I have successfully settled into my college life and I am ready to have a successful college career.

After my first week in college, I decided to take my first visit back home to see my family and friends. Although I had only been gone a week, It felt as if I had already been gone for months. It felt good seeing everyone again because it showed me how much I really did miss everyone. I had even gotten home late at night the first night home and I was still greeted by my mom at the front door. She had the biggest smile telling me that I was already missed. I got the same response from my brothers as well. They were not hesitant to ask me a thousand questions about my new life. I made sure I answered every one of them. My girlfriend was also to quick to ask questions concerning my first week. It really is a great feeling coming back home and knowing that you are missed. It reminds you that you have to be successful for all of the people back home.

The first thing I did when I came home was attend a football game to support my old highschool in the rivalry game that everyone want to see year to year. Unfortunately, they didn't come out on top and the score was not pretty. However, it was a great opportunity to see all of my old friends. I got together with all them and we pretty much discussed our first experiences as college students and reminisced on old times. It was a great feeling. I truly wish them all of the luck in there future endeavors. I'll always be here.

Other than that, I spent my first weekend with my loved ones and made sure they knew that even though I'm not around as much as I used to be. I will always be here for them My weekend was filled with football, scary movies, reminiscing, memories, and good times. It truly made me feel like.....

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
