With this list of 10 essentials, you will be cleansing without even trying. When you incorporate good food into your diet by always having them in your household, there is little room for error and so much possibility for a constantly healthy life!
Superfood powder- it is a little pricy, but you buy it once and have it for weeks, or even months depending on how frequently you use it! It is loaded with the most abundant chlorophyll substances found in nature: spirulina, wheatgrass, alfalfa and chlorella. Add one table spoon to every smoothie!
Coconut water- It’s great for straight hydration and smoothies. When cleansing, drinking water with or without lemon and coconut water are about the best things you can drink.
Spinach, Arugula, Kale- If it’s not in a salad, it’ll be in your smoothie. Maybe less so with arugula, but spinach and kale are great for green drinks. Try having one or two of each in your fridge at all times.
Lemons – Like mentioned before, lemons are great in water, but also a nice flavor blast on a salad or any meal you prepare for dinner. Being one of the healthiest things on earth, there can’t be any harm in its lip-puckering tang.
Ginger- This can be a tough one to adjust to, but once you’ve become accustomed to its healthy spice and invigorating flavor, it is another prefect addition for a cleanse. It stimulates digestion and circulation, and it aids in washing out toxins. With your insides squeaky clean, ginger can help build better defenses against illness. You can try ginger tea too!
Hemp seeds- With a nutty flavor, hemp seeds can be sprinkled over a salad, in a smoothie, mixed into a marinating sauce or even added to a dessert. They enhance your metabolism and suppress appetite. They're loaded with probiotics that boost your immune system, and improve dry hair, skin and nails.
Chia seeds- Fiber, protein, Omega-3 fats and vitamins are just bursting from chia seeds. Two tablespoons of chia stirred in with ½ a cup of vanilla soy or almond milk and refrigerated over night makes a great pudding for snack the next day. When consumed, the gelatin like substance also forms in your stomach supporting growth of probiotics.
Avocado- High in potassium and fiber, avocados will get you feeling great. It's loaded with healthy fats, so you shouldn’t eat too many avocados. But as a superfood itself, you can add avocados to nearly everything, including whipping it up with some cocoa powder and sugar to make chocolate moose!
Cashews- Magnesium in cashews is similar to calcium in supporting bones because it helps regulate nerve and muscle tone. They also make you feel full, so you’ll eat less! Soaking raw cashews in a little bit of water is helpful to soften them up before throwing them into a smoothie. Fun Fact: Two handfuls of cashews give you the therapeutic equivalent of a prescription does of the anti-depressant Prozac
Hummus- Chickpeas are awesome and so is garlic, so why not blend them together for one of the greatest snacks? Because of its high level of protein, it can fight hunger cravings and balance blood sugar levels, causing you to snack less. Plus, hummus is super easy to make: blend up a can of chickpeas, a clove of garlic, olive oil, tahini, and salt!
So if you truly want to cleanse, your day can go as simply as this:
-Lemon water when you wake
-Superfood smoothie for breakfast
-A clean lunch of salad or a quinoa creation
-Veggies and hummus for a snack
