Listen to them, children of the night...What music they make.
Okay, off hand you probably didn't know that it is a quote from Dracula but here I am to the rescue! What a better way to start Halloween then list a few good movies, right? Vampires are on the blood, I mean brain today so let's start here.
Personally, I love vampires and I can not get enough of them. If I see fangs on clothes or anything of such, I will be the first one to buy it. I am a faithful vampire wannabe and this list is going to prove it. I've seen almost every movie on this list, some good and some bad. What I think however is it is a good list and you will enjoy.
Sure, some movies I'm sure you've seen or at least you've heard of them. These movies and shows range from the 1930's all the way to the last few years. There's old school and new school fighting over what vampires are better and what ones suck. (No pun intended)
One thing I love about these bloodsuckers is that they change just like zombies. They get new strengths, weaknesses and whatever else they want to develop. Are they still allergic to sunlight? Do they love to eat garlic? Can they go to church on Sunday's? Oh, who knows anymore but that is one thing I love about them.
As for this list, I have to make something perfectly clear. No, I am not counting the sparkly, glittering Cullen family and their neighbors. I do not classify Twilight or its movies as Vampires for various reasons. I lived through the craze and that was enough to make me lose my mind. Sorry Edward but I count true vampires, not ones who sparkle.
The Lost Boys
This is probably my favorite movie of all time. I can't tell you how much you need to see this movie and if you have, you loved it. 1980's, cool teenage vampires and great fashion. Watch this and you'll thank me.
Lost Boys: The Tribe
A sequel followed from 1987 all the way to 2008. Sure it's not near the first but I love this as well. It reminds me of an updated version and did I mention that the lead vampire is hot?
Interview with a Vampire
Okay, so I've only saw bits and pieces to this but if it counts I did read the book. You know my biggest turn off, Tom Cruise with blonde hair. I'm sorry but that look was a no go
Queen of the Damned
So this is the third book in the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. First is Interview with a Vampire and then this movie came out. Why it skipped the second book I don't know but trust me; you'll like it. Plus it has Aaliyah in it so it's a bonus.
Underworld
Vampires versus the Lycans. I actually just watched this movie a few months ago due to an actor I like being in it. It's different from what you may think and the details in it are to die for.
Underworld: Evolution
Hey, a movie I just said I haven't watched. In actuality, I believe there are at least five or six of them but I am only watching the first two. I know they change down the line but who knows if I actually get to them
Fright Night (1985)
Welcome to Fright Night...For Real. This is a classic and has horror plus a dash of humor. This movie is gold and I'm sure most will cross this out quickly. Give it a try though, it's hysterical but not too much
Fright Night (2011)
What would you do if your neighbor was a vampire? I'll stand with binoculars if my neighbor looks that good. This version is a remake with an updated feel yet seems very parallel. Watch them back to back and you'll see what I mean
Dracula
Mr. Vlad himself. This movie started the whole vampire craze in my opinion and this was once actually labeled as a love story once upon a time. It is very old but it shows how the classics never die
Dracula 2000
In this updated version, we find Dracula himself roaming the streets of New Orleans with Van Helsing on his trail. I used to love this as a kid and it is very underrated
Blade
This is actually a comic book series about a man named Blade who is half human and half vampire. He hunts them down as they want to take over the world. It sounds ridiculous but did I mention again that the main vampire is hot?
The Forsaken
This move is super underrated and may be hard to find. It's about a guy and girl who have been bitten and don't want to turn into vampires. The only way to live is to road trip with a human and kill the leader. It's got gore, action and on top of it no fangs...They still classify
30 Days of Night
This is a movie that my Mom has tried getting me to watch but I never have. I've seen things here and there but it puts vampires in the arctic where night staying for 30 days, that would be absolutely terrifying
True Blood
Now onto the TV Shows. This had lasted seven seasons of HBO and it has everything you need. Vampires, werewolves, werepanthers, fairies...Trust me you are missing out if you haven't saw this show
The Vampire Diaries
Who doesn't love a love triangle. The Salvatore Brothers falling for Elena Gilbert. I'm sure you've heard of this story or show more than once and it is one of the best. 8 seasons may sound like a lot but you'll love it
The Originals
The Vampire Diaries spin-off takes the Original family of vampires to New Orleans. I can't say enough how much this show means to me and gave me one of my favorite fictional characters ever
Hemlock Grove
If you love Netflix then you can check this show out there. I've only saw the first season but boy oh boy. You are in for a strange ride but it was worth it
Dracula
This show had only lasted one season but make it what it's worth. I personally loved it and it was a good twist on the horror classic. Give it a try, you'll want more but beggars can't be choosers
