What I Value In LIfe
World In Your Hands

Everything that you believe in shapes your future. Each of your values will become an asset in having a successful and happy life. Different people value different things but in the end, we share our values with the ones we love to ensure that each of us has a successful life. In my eyes, being happy is a success, There are many different things that I value and believe that contribute to my success in life.

I value education because I think that the slightest bit of knowledge can change your life. If you know a lot about cars, you are good any time your car breaks down. If you know CPR, you can save someone else’s life. The more you know, the better. I think that I feel this way because of how ambitious I am to learn. You can never have too much knowledge.

I value security because I feel that you are comfortable when you’re secure. I do contradict myself a bit when I say that I value security because I also love when spontaneous things happen. I value security in the sense that I want to have a set job with a good income that can help provide for my future family, but I still love when new things come about and surprise me.

I value creativity because it promotes individualism. Each person is different and should find a way to express themselves. When I was in high school, I used to doodle on everything that i could get my hands on. I also love to express myself by scrapbooking, crocheting, or even just simply coloring a picture from a coloring book. I think that it is important to set yourself apart from others and be unique in your own way. Most of the women on my family are extremely creative. My grandmother makes so many different things that she participates in craft shows to sell them. I've always looked up to my grandmother so she is really the one who inspired me to be creative.

I value being open-minded because there are so many other opinions to be heard. There is nobody in the world who will think exactly the same things as you do and it is important that you hear other people’s thoughts. I feel that being open-minded is also a part of being respectful of another person’s beliefs.

I think that happiness is the key to success. I believe that the point of life is to live and be happy. Without happiness, there really is no point of living. To be happy, I feel that you need to accept yourself. You’re never going to be okay with your life if you constantly think about what you could be or what you haven’t done that you should have. The only person who can truly change your life is yourself. You may have help along the way, but you are responsible for making your dreams become a reality. All of my values simply match up to the key to success in my world. If you just stick to yourself and do what you need to do, you will have a happy life.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
